KEN UCHIDA

Producer, Musician, and Designer Ken Uchida breaks boundaries of styles with his groove.

Born in 1971 in Chigasaki, Japan, Ken began his interest in live musical performance in the 1980's, teaching himself how to play the electric guitar. He played with various bands in Japan, spawning variety of musical genres from Rock to Blues to Funk. This beginning interest has grown to an extended love for playing and producing music, Ken became
proficient in acoustic guitar, electric bass, keyboards, and drums.

In 1992 Ken moved to the United States and begun his discovery of New World's Urban Sounds. Over past years he ceaselessly immersed himself into Hip Hop culture, specializing in Nu down beat which is an eclectic mixture of old school Hip Hop, Soul, Funk, Jazz, and R&B. He envisions a distinct 70's soul flavor in the next music evolution, combining "vintage sounds" with new Urban tracks.

Ken was awarded a Gold Record in 2002 for his contribution to the MOB Records hit, "Cha-Cha Slide".

Ken has independantly released his solo project, "PHASE ONE" and "PHASE TWO". These audio sketches express the soul of the sounds he's been creating. Ever the lover of vintage sounds, Ken sound analog tape to get phat bass and soft guitar sounds.

Although technology is growing faster than ever, Ken still sees the live "human" flavor as the quintessence of music.

Ken had moved back to Japan January 2005.
